THEIR CHALLENGE:

The client had launched a range of dips and due to initial poor R&D design, numerous product recalls occurred resulting in tonnes of product being wasted. Their product formulation costs were high and the quality of the product after only a few weeks at ambient storage showed accelerated signs of product ageing.

OUR SOLUTION:

We re-designed their formulations and developed their own unique ingredient solutions using newer technologically advanced ingredients and achieved further cost reduction strategies by streamlining their inventory control. We also fine-tuned their methods of processing and helped train their production staff to deliver a safer and more consistent product for retail sale. Quality assurance programs were developed with the Client and efforts were maintained at a steady pace to monitor product quality during both transport and storage.

THEIR OUTCOME:

The Client saved on actual product formulation costs and reduced further financial losses by reducing product loss. We achieved a top quality, high-end product that was not compromised in any way plus extended the product shelf life. The Client then gained the required credibility in the marketplace as the brand leader for dips in retail shelf space.

THEIR CHALLENGE:

The Client approached us looking to launch a brand new, value- added range of mayonnaise and salad dressings for retail and catering/food service trade. They lacked the required research & development expertise and required the support of a specialist.

OUR SOLUTION:

We worked closely with them to a develop the range suitable to their target market and matched critical aspects of a competitor product who was actually the brand leader in the particular retail category.

THEIR OUTCOME:

The brand grew over the years to become the top seller in its category as sales of their mayonnaise often overtook sales of the original market leader. Their customers loved the smooth and tangy flavour profile and the very delicious thick creamy mouthfeel. The product range has since grown into an established household brand.

The Client was importing most of their raw materials, but it was becoming rather expensive owing to exchange rate fluctuations.

OUR SOLUTION:

We redesigned all their formulations and developed their own unique ingredient solutions, using locally sourced ingredients where possible. We advanced their formulations to be more robust using functional ingredients to deliver improved sensory experiences while increasing shelf life and driving down formulation and production costs.

THEIR OUTCOME:

The Client gained from huge cost savings and improved control over inventory with less recorded pilferage and waste. Their new product range was very well accepted by their business partners, leading to increased sales, and securing new business and tender initiated contracts.
